Our Programs
Beyond the classroom, Excel Secondary School, Maracha builds well-rounded learners through academics, debate, clubs, and character-building activities.
Educating the whole student
Our programmes are designed to complement classroom learning with the skills students need beyond the exam room — critical thinking, public speaking, teamwork, and a strong sense of national and community identity.
Examinations & Assessment
We hold students to a disciplined, well-structured programme of internal and mock examinations that prepares them for national assessments. Every test is treated as a checkpoint for growth, not just a grade.
- Regular internal assessments across all subjects
- Structured mock exams ahead of national papers
- Individual feedback to guide each learner's progress
Debate Club
Our debate programme gives students a platform to research, argue, and think on their feet. It builds the confidence and articulation that serve them well beyond the school gate — in interviews, leadership roles, and everyday life.
- Weekly debate sessions on current affairs and set topics
- Inter-class and inter-school debate competitions
- Mentorship from staff patrons on argument and delivery
Associations
From subject associations to interest-based clubs, students find spaces to pursue what excites them and to develop leadership skills by running committees, planning events, and mentoring younger members.
- Subject associations that deepen classroom learning
- Student-led committees and elected leadership
- Regular meetings, projects, and inter-club events
Career Guidance & Talks
Through regular career talks, students meet professionals from different fields, explore subject-to-career pathways, and get practical guidance on subject combinations, further education, and life after school.
- Termly career talks with invited guest speakers
- One-on-one guidance and counselling sessions
- Support choosing subject combinations and career pathways
Quiz Club
Our quiz club sharpens general knowledge and quick thinking through friendly, fast-paced competition. Students test what they know across subjects and current affairs, both within the school and against other schools.
- Inter-class quiz competitions each term
- Preparation for inter-school academic contests
- A fun, low-pressure way to build subject knowledge
Sports
Our football and netball teams compete regularly, building fitness, teamwork, and school spirit. Training happens after class hours, with students representing the school in inter-school fixtures and tournaments.
Music, Dance & Drama
Students explore creativity and self-expression through song, traditional and contemporary dance, and drama performances. The programme builds confidence on stage and keeps school culture and heritage alive.
- Regular rehearsals for music, dance, and drama
- Performances at school functions and celebrations
- Participation in inter-school music and drama festivals
Patriotism Club
The Patriotism Club instils discipline, national pride, and a sense of civic duty in our students through drill, ceremony, and community service. Members learn teamwork and order while developing respect for their country and its institutions.
